What does custom software actually cost?

There is no single price tag — but there is a clear logic behind it. Here is how we scope, estimate and keep budgets honest.

“How much does it cost?” is the first question we get — and the honest answer is always “it depends.” That is not an evasion; it is the whole point of custom software. What we can do is make the cost transparent and predictable.

What actually drives the price

Three things move the number more than anything else:

  • Scope — how many features, screens and integrations are in the first release versus parked for later.
  • Complexity — a content website and a real-time data platform live in different universes, even if both are “a web app.”
  • Integrations — every external system (payment, ERP, an existing database) adds surface area to design, build and test.

How we estimate

We start small. A short discovery — often a paid prototyping sprint — turns a vague idea into a concrete, clickable scope. From there we can give a range you can actually plan around, not a number plucked from the air.

Engagement models

  • Fixed price for well-defined projects where the scope is clear.
  • Monthly retainer when you want a team that evolves the product with you.
  • Team augmentation when you have engineers and need extra hands.

The goal is the same in all three: no surprise invoices. If something changes the cost, you hear it before the work happens, not after.
